With masters’ degree in economics and experience of managing Riga Multimedia Center, Gatis Upmalis founded Studio F.O.R.M.A. in 1993. Since then the studio has become one of most prominent production companies in the Baltic region. It has produced 4 fiction features, a dozen documentaries, more than 30 corporate and industrial films. Films produced by Gatis Upmalis have received 14 National Filmmakers Union Awards and a number of international prizes including the Prize named after Manfred Zalcgeber at Berlinale for the feature title GOOD HANDS. Family feature WATERBOMB FOR THE FAT TOMCAT became a domestic surprise hit, the film went to no.1 spot among European productions of the year in theatrical release. Family adventure LITTLE ROBBERS is his latest production.
